Personal Development at Spa Bermondsey
The personal development of all of our pupils is very important and underpins everything we do. We want all of our pupils to be happy, safe and healthy and we work hard to ensure all of our pupils have the skills and knowledge needed.
Every pupil has an Achievement Folder that highlights the personal achievements they have made, the enrichment they have enjoyed and the skills they have developed that are important to them.
Each week, each class nominates a pupil to receive a certificate in that week's assembly that recognises something special the pupil has accomplished.
Each term we nominate pupils for the Jack Petchey award. These awards recognise outstanding accomplishments and previous winners have included those who have developed their dance skills, developed their community and baking skills and those who have been role models to others.
Pupils have three IEP targets a term - two of which are based on their EHC Outcomes and one of which is their "happiness target". Pupils work on their targets across the term and progress is recorded and shared as part of a pupils Annual Review.
Progress towards pupil's EHC Outcomes are recorded each half term in assessment week. Communication and Interaction targets are worked in weekly in Social Communication lessons, Preparation for Adulthood targets are often the focus in Community lessons and IEP targets are often based on Social, Emotional and Mental Health targets as well as Cognition and Learning targets.
All pupils are taught how to use and apply the language of the Zones of Regulation to support their own emotional regulation and to recognise how to recognise and respond to the emotions of others.
