Drama at Spa Camberwell
The Drama curriculum provides exciting, inspiring opportunities to develop
-
communication skills
-
confidence
-
imagination and independence.
All pupils explore drama skills and discover more about other cultures.
For primary pupils drama is integrated across the curriculum. Play, including dramatic and role play, are key teaching tools within the Learning to Learn curriculum. Primary pupils also access drama through the Happiness project.
All Key Stage 3 students access one lesson of drama each week. These begin with ‘Introduction to Drama’, an essential ‘Drama Toolkit’, exploring drama games, working with their classmates, making choices, and turn taking. Over the course of KS3, students will be introduced to key drama skills and genres such as mime, movement, soundscapes and telling stories from different cultures.
Throughout each area of the curriculum, pupils have the opportunity to:
-
Share work with each other
-
Perform in front of the wider community
-
Consider careers in the entertainment industry by taking on roles such as director, or costumes and props makers.
